After a brief introduction about SMILING project (SMart In home LIviNG: Home Automation technologies) that aims at developing a laboratory for knowledge transfer, from university research centres to companies, of advanced sensing and automation technologies for Home Living, two spin-off companies of Marche Polytechnic University (Arielab S.r.l. and IDEA Soc.coop. a r.l.) present their activities and projects in Home Automation sectors. Arielab S.r.l. presents a new product, developed thanks to the fruitful cooperation between University and Industry, for an effective solution to the problem of ensuring autonomy and well being at their own premises of elderly or disabled people, affected by reduced mobility. IDEA Soc.coop. a r.l. speaks about its automation project applied on green economy. |

| 15h35 – 15h55 | Antonis Theocharous (Cyprus University of Technology) Abstract: The proposed presentation will provide a holistic picture on how a new EU member country develops and implements innovation strategy within a fiercely competitive environment where large economies exert dominant pressures and control. This perspective is particularly interesting for the conference delegates/participants since Cyprus (being one of the smaller EU economies) invests on innovation at a strategic level in its efforts to remain competitive. At the same time the presentation will aim to demonstrate how companies operating in Cyprus are performing in utilizing and expanding these opportunities offered to them. |

Tradicionalna univerzitetno-podjetniška arena je prevsem prostor za mreženje, ki omogoča podjetnikom, da se srečajo s potencialnimi investitorji oziroma potencialnimi poslovnimi partnerji, ki bi jih utegnile zanimati njihove podjetniške ideje. Podjetja imajo tako priložnost, da predstavijo svoje inovativne izdelke in storitve ter se srečajo s študenti in univerzitetnimi strokovnjaki, ki jih zanima zaposlitev ali morebitna druga oblika sodelovanja. Uspešnim slovenskim podjetjem, ki že sodelujejo ali pa bi želela sodelovati z univerzo, univerzitetnimi inštituti, mladimi raziskovalci, izumitelji, inovatorji, bodočimi podjetniki in drugimi, ponuja možnost učinkovite predstavitve. K sodelovanju vabimo tudi banke, sklade tveganega kapitala in poslovne angele, ki lahko na konferenci bolje spoznajo svoje obstoječe in nove partnerje. |

Start:up Slovenija je vseslovensko tekmovanje start-up podjetij, ki želi prepoznati najboljša novoustanovljena slovenska podjetja (start-up podjetja) in njihove ustanovitelje ter jih nagraditi. S projektom želimo prispevati k dvigu podjetniške aktivnosti v Sloveniji in promociji pomena inovativnega podjetništva v slovenski družbi nasploh. V okviru večernega dogodka bo potekala svečana predstavitev finalistov tekmovanja in razglasitev zmagovalca tekmovanja, ki bo poleg bogatih nagrad prejel tudi kipec z laskavim naslovom "Start-up leta 2011".
»V okviru tekmovanja se oblikuje socialna mreža akterjev podjetniškega ekosistema, ki ga tvorijo podjetniki, investitorji, svetovalci, mediji, vladne in nevladne organizacije, in so ključni za uspešen razvoj podjetništva. Tekmovanje želi vzpodbuditi pozitivno medregionalno tekmovalno vzdušje med podpornimi organizacijami inovativnega okolja, ki lahko z zastopanjem »svojih podjetij« gradijo prepoznavnost svojega poslanstva in regije«
